Preview:
Leeds City and Barnsley both have blank days so far as the Second League is concerned, and arrangements therefore have been made for the playing of a friendly engagements between the two sides at Elland Road. It is understood that both teams will place their full League teams in the field, and a decidedly interesting game will, therefore, in all probability be seen. The Leeds City team for the match has not been definately decided upon. It is understood, however, that Kay has recovered from the injury he sustained five weeks ago, and either he or Trenam will partner Murray at full-back. Henderson reappears in the team, and will play at right half in place of Hargraves.

LEEDS CITY v. BARNSLEY.
AN EXTRA MATCH
INTERESTING SPORT AT ELLAND ROAD.
Leeds City and Barnsley had no League fixtures this afternoon, and the managers of the clubs arranged a "special" match on the Elland Road ground, Leeds. So recently as November 9th the clubs met on the City ground in a League match; a splendidly contested game ending in a draw of one goal each. Accordingly, another good exhibition of the Association game was anticipated to-day. On the home side Trenam was given a chance to win his spurs for the first time, he occupying the right back position, while Henderson was at right half-back, after an enforced absence of a month's duration, and Kennedy played in place of Hynds. Barnsley put the same team in the field as on the last meeting, with two exceptions; of course, with Reeves being one of the absentees. Only a meagre attendance witnessed the kick-off. Straight from the centre-kick Croot ran down and centred, the ball going behind, while immediately after Hall sprinted, and getting behind Murray sent the ball flying across the home goalmouth, but both McShee and Surtees missed the opportunity. With only five minutes gone the Leeds City forwards got down in a line, and McLeod giving Gemmell a pass he shot. Rounds hit the ball upwards against the bar but it rebounded backwards over the line, and thus Leeds got in front. Both goals were attacked in turn, good half back work gave the forwards many opportunities to shine. Hall gave Naisby a particularly awkward shot to stop, and he did it well.The keenness associated with League football was missing, but yet some interesting play was seen. The backs got through a lot of work under pressure, and both goalkeepers cleared their lines repeatedly. A movement led by McLeod
seemed capable of producing a goal. He passed to Gemmell in a fine position, but instead of shooting he passed to Croot on the opposite wing, and his slanting shot went straight into the hands of Rounds. After thirty-five minutes play Barnsley equalised in a simple manner. Hall centred, and Surtees shot weakly into the hands of Naisby, who let the ball slip through his fingers on the ground.

When the second half started the attendance had increased by about 5,000. Immediately after the kick-off Barnsley were penalised for a foul against McLeod, but he failed with the penalty kick. Burton put Barnsley in front after a few minutes play with a soft shot from close range, and immediately after Gemmell equalised for Leeds with a long curling shot from near the penalty line, he having received the ball from McLeod. Play in this half was very bright and interesting, both teams striving hard for the lead, plenty of work being found for the backs and the middle lines. The City forwards on many occasions got within striking distance, and in one instance McLeod astonished the crowd by bringing the ball back instead of shooting, as his chance of scoring was a good one.

LEEDS CITY v BARNSLEY
A "friendly" match between the above teams was arranged and some 6,000 spectators witnessed the game, which was played at Elland Road. Both teams were well represented, there being only two alterations to the Barnsley eleven as compared with that which met Leeds City a month ago, Reeves, of course, being one of the absentees. Within five minutes of the start the home team had taken the lead. The forwards got away in a line and Gemmell, the new inside right, from Stoke, received the ball from McLeod. He put in a stinging shot. Rounds hit the ball against the crossbar, but it rebounded into the net. Play of a give and take nature followed, although on one occasion Naisby had his work cut out to stop a hot shot from Hall. Leeds City should have increased their lead when Gemmell received the ball in a good position. Instead of shooting, however, he passed to Croot, and the wingman's shot went into the goalkeeper's hands. Barnsley equalised shortly before the interval. Hall centred and Surtees got to the ball. He tipped it into the goalmouth, and Naisby, though he got hold of the ball, let it slip through his hands into the net. Immediately on resumption, Barnsley were penalised for a foul against McLeod. That player took the kick but shot wide of the posts. A minute later Barnsley took the lead, Burton scoring with a simple shot, after a scramble in front of the home goal. Leeds, however, quickly equalised. Gemmell, with a curling shot, finding the corner of the net. Play in the second half was very interesting. On one occasion McLeod missed a very easy goal, and then Rounds saved two shots from Parnell in brilliant fashion.

LEEDS CITY v BARNSLEY : ANOTHER DRAWN GAME
Owing to the English Cup-ties, both Leeds City and Barnsley were without fixtures on Saturday. So recently as November 9th the clubs met in a League match at Leeds, which ended in a draw: consequently it was thought that another meeting might prove attractive. About 5,000 spectators watched the game at Elland Road. On the Leeds side Gemmell made his first appearance at home, and signalised the event by scoring both the goals obtained by the City. Play swung from end to end in pendulous fashion for ten minutes without a goal being obtained. Then Leeds got to close quarters again, and McLeod, passing the ball to Gemmell, he shot, causing Rounds to fist the ball upwards, it striking the the crossbar. In its descent however, it twisted back over the goal line, and thus Leeds went to the front. The following twenty-five minutes' play was made up of flashes of brilliancy interspersed by long dull patches. Hall was then seen striding along the Barnsley right. He beat man after man, finally slinging the ball into the centre, where Surtees gained possession and beat Naisby with a shot that slipped through his fingers. The first five minutes of the second half was crowded with exciting incidents. First Leeds were awarded a penalty, which McLeod failed to convert. Then Burton put Barnsley in front with a simple shot from close range, following which Gemmell scored in sensational fashion for the City. He shot whilst on the run with great force from near the penalty line, and the ball travelling true and high proved all too much for Rounds. The remainder of the game was played with much earnestness, each side striving for victory, but when the whistle blew the score read - Leeds City 2 goals Barnsley 2 goals. Teams:-
